Go Global with ACE

For startups, the world just got smaller, thanks to the new ACE International Centre — a dedicated one-stop centre to help startups internationalise their business.

The Action Community for Entrepreneurship (ACE) has launched the ACE International Centre (ACEIC) to support the international growth aspirations of local and foreign startups. The dedicated one-stop centre was unveiled on 6 September 2017 by Dr Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade & Industry and National Development, who noted the timeliness of its establishment.

“The increasing vibrancy of the Singapore ecosystem has captured interest from international investors and entrepreneurs to leverage Singapore as an Asian scale-up location and entry point into markets in the region. The establishment of the ACEIC is therefore timely, to enhance global connections for our entrepreneurs and provide a platform for startups to expand into regional markets,” said Dr Koh.

Supported by IE Singapore, JTC and SPRING Singapore, ACEIC will facilitate opportunities for both local startups seeking regional growth and international startups setting up base in Singapore. Its services include global networking and community building, business and funding networks, co-working spaces as well as a market access programme — an intensive month-long, structured programme that features master classes and coaching by domain experts and ecosystem influencers to ready startups destined for overseas markets.

ACE’s other efforts include a collaboration with Fukuoka City to roll out initiatives such as the Fukuoka x Singapore Startup Pitch to facilitate greater cross-border cooperation.

Innovation without Borders

At the launch of ACEIC, ACE also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with global professional services firm KPMG. With this, ACE will collaborate with KPMG Digital Village to set up a regional co-innovation hub in Singapore. The objective is to drive co-innovation between startups and enterprises.

“Whether it’s helping startups solve real business challenges via corporate accelerators, or supporting the enterprises’ innovation journey, we will be working closely with ACE to grow it into the largest co-innovation hub in the region, and possibly the world,” said Mr Jan Reinmueller, Head of KPMG Digital Village.

With the ACEIC in place and more being done to propel Startup SG, which encompasses government-led initiatives to strengthen the local ecosystem, Mr Edmas Neo, Executive Director of ACE, is optimistic about the future.

“We are excited about the tremendous prospects of building on our existing established network and ecosystems of startups, accelerators and venture capitalists to launch an international platform. We are confident that ACEIC will play a vital role in serving the globalisation needs of both domestic and international startups based in Singapore and further solidify our foundation as an international business hub for entrepreneurship and place Singapore at the frontier of the global digital economy,” he said.

ACEIC is strategically located at the heart of the JTC LaunchPad @ one-north with more than 800 startups and 50 enablers. Check out ACEIC and learn how it can benefit your startup today!
