LaunchPad Housewarming Party

The More the Merrier

The LaunchPad Party on 22 March 2017 was also a housewarming party to welcome the new startups and incubators/accelerators who recently moved into the completed Blocks 75, 77 and 81 of the JTC LaunchPad@one-north.

Startups are small and agile; that’s their unique competitive edge. But when it comes to the startup community, bigger is undoubtedly better — more diverse, more vibrant and more reasons to get-together!

The strong turnout for the event spoke of both the unity and strength of the local startup community. With the addition of the three new blocks, the JTC LaunchPad@one-north, which opened in 2015, now houses about 4,300 people more than 800 startups and almost 50 incubators . It has also grown beyond its initial focus on the InfoComm and Media sector to embrace a more diverse range of industries including Engineering, Biomedical, Financial Technology and Urban Solutions.

“The growing community at JTC LaunchPad @ one-north is a testament to the benefits of a start-up ecosystem that is strategically plugged into one-north, where they have access to research institutes, institutes of higher learning and knowledge-based corporations. With the increasing diversity of the startup community at LaunchPad, we hope to encourage more collaboration across complementary industries. We will continue to develop innovative space solutions to support startups at the different stages of their growth,” said Mr Png Cheong Boon, Chief Executive Officer of JTC.

The event also featured the unveiling of Startup SG at the ACE Ideation Centre by Minister of State for National Development and Trade and Industry, Dr Koh Poh Koon.

The Action Community for Entrepreneurship (ACE), which is the national lead organisation supporting the growth of the startup ecosystem, will complement the expansion of the LaunchPad@one-north facility with new initiatives to foster stronger startup to SME/corporate partnerships, talent development and international market access. ACE will collaborate with several government agencies to develop the ACE International Centre in the LaunchPad to provide a one-stop assistance for startups who are embarking on their regional and international expansion.
